About Project Mah Jongg

Since the 1920s, the game of mah jongg has ignited the Jewish-American imagination in living rooms and gathering spots around the country. The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust is pleased to present Project Mah Jongg, an exhibition exploring the history and meanings of the beloved game that became a Jewish-American tradition—and is now undergoing a renaissance across the country. The exhibition is on view from May 4 through January 2, 2011.

A wonderful selection of mah jongg-related items is now available online and in the shop. Discover whimsical mah jongg-inspired housewares and gifts as well as books to help you learn the game and strategize. New items are being added weekly so please be sure to check back!
